The 1940 Newberry Indians football team represented Newberry College as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) during the 1940 college football season. Led by third-year head coach Billy Laval, the Indians compiled an overall record of 7–2–1 with a mark of 4–0 in conference play, placing second in the SIAA.[1] The team played home games at Setzler Field in Newberry, South Carolina.
