Rami Al Hajj (Arabic: رامي الحاج; born 17 September 2001, previously Rami Hajal) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Danish Superliga club Silkeborg. Born in Lebanon, Al Hajj moved to Sweden and represented the country internationally at youth level.
Early life
Al Hajj was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and moved to Sweden in 2003 aged two.[2] The family had his surname changed to "Hajal" when he moved to Sweden.[3] On 15 September 2021, he changed it back to Al Hajj.[3]
Club career
Early career
A youth product of Falkenbergs FF, Al Hajj moved to Heerenveen in 2018.[4] He made his professional debut with Heerenveen in a 3–1 Eredivisie loss to Feyenoord, on 18 January 2020.[5]
OB
On 14 June 2023, Al Hajj signed for OB in the Danish Superliga ahead of the 2023–24 season.[6] He scored on his debut for the club on 23 July, the opening matchday of the season, converting a penalty in a 2–2 home draw against Randers.[7] Al Hajj made 32 appearances for OB.[8]
Plymouth Argyle
On transfer deadline day, 30 August 2024, Al Hajj joined EFL Championship club Plymouth Argyle.[9] He scored three goals in 29 games during his single season at the club.[8]
Silkeborg
He returned to the Danish Superliga on 11 July 2025, signing for Silkeborg on a deal until the summer of 2029.[10][11][8] On 20 July, he made his debut for the club in their first match of the 2025–26 Danish Superliga against Brøndby.[12]
International career
Born in Lebanon, Al Hajj was a youth international for Sweden, featuring for both U19s and U21s.[2] He received his first call-up for the senior national team in a friendly match against Estonia on 12 January 2024.[13]
