Musashi-Seki Park (武蔵関公園, Musashi-seki-kōen) is a ward-adminstered public park in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, Japan. It is located in Sekimachi-Kita 3rd Street. It is a famous spot for cherry blossoms, and it has a spring water pond with rentable boats. River kingfishers are a common sight in the park, and have become a symbol for the Sekimachi-Kita neighborhood.

Fujimi Pond

Fujimi Pond is located in the park, and like the nearby ponds in Shakujii Park, Inokashira Park, and Zenpukuji Park, it is formed by spring water from the Musashino Terrace.

It is possible to rent boats and go boating on the pond. Fujimi Pond also serves to control the flow of the Shakujii River, which flows alongside the pond.

Fujimi Pond has two small islands: Ashi-no-Shima and Matsu-no-Shima.

History

It opened as a private park in the Taishō era, and it was called Wakamiya Playground (若宮遊園, Wakamiya-yūen), after the nearby Wakamiya Shrine. Playground equipment and other facilities were developed then.

In 1935, it became one of the park development projects promoted by Tokyo City, and construction began on an area of 17,600 tsubo (including the 7,000 tsubo pond) with a budget of 41,000 yen.^[1] At this time, it was called Musashi-Seki Park.
