The 2025 US Open – Mixed doubles will be part of the 2025 US Open and be held on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. It will be the 137th time a mixed doubles competition is contested at the US Open.
Italians Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori are the defending champions.[1]
New format
The 2025 edition of the US Open will be the first with a new format of mixed doubles competition, that will be moved to the first week of the US Open–Fan Week and the same week of pre-tournament qualifying matches, to be played from Tuesday, August 19 to Wednesday, August 20 with a reward of $1 million winner’s prize.
The two days of competition will be held in the Arthur Ashe Stadium and the Louis Armstrong Stadium, featuring 16 teams, with eight teams earning direct entry based on their combined singles ranking and eight wild-card entries, those do not include players outside of the singles entry list due to scheduling conflicts in qualifying matches at the same week. The matches will be played in best-of-three-sets with short sets to four games, no-ad scoring, tiebreakers at four-all, and a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. The final will be a best-of-three set match to six games, featuring no-ad scoring, with tiebreakers at six-all with a 10-point match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.[2]
This change was criticized by players and fans before the start of the tournament.[3][4][5][6][7]
Team entries
24 teams initially entered the tournament but only 16 were accepted into the draw.[8] The following 8 teams received direct entry based on their combined singles rankings, with four of these teams seeded.[9][10][11]
