Martina Navratilova defeated defending champion Chris Evert Lloyd in the final, 6–1, 3–6, 6–2 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1982 Wimbledon Championships.[1] It was her third Wimbledon singles title and fifth major singles title overall. It was the first of nine consecutive years that Navratilova would reach the Wimbledon singles final, winning seven of those finals.
