Zulianos Fútbol Club was a professional soccer team from Venezuela. Its headquarters were initially in the city of Maracaibo.
History
Zulianos Fútbol Club was founded in 1999 when the team Nueva Cádiz FC moved from Cumaná to Maracaibo. Nueva Cádiz FC had been crowned champion of the 1998-99 Venezuelan Segunda Division season, which allowed Zulianos FC to play in the Venezuelan Primera Division for the following season. Among the standout players of that first season was Juan Arango, who would only stay with the team for one year. For the 1999-00 Venezuelan Primera División season, the team was relegated to the Venezuelan Segunda Division, after finishing in last place in the Western Group with only 9 points in 14 matches.[1]
For the following season (2001-02), the team once again achieved promotion to the top category; however, the club decided to make an agreement with Unión Atlético Maracaibo for them to take the team's place in the first division. At that time, the club's headquarters was moved to Lagunillas.[2]
Their last season in Venezuelan football was the 2002-03 Venezuelan Segunda Division where the franchise returned to Cumaná, and was renamed Nueva Cádiz FC.[3]This club is related to Zulianos B.C. or Zulianos Baseball Club.
