Tsurugi (born April 9, 1997) is a Japanese dancer and rapper. He is a member of the seven-member dance and vocal group PSYCHIC FEVER from EXILE TRIBE. He hails from Hyogo Prefecture and is managed by LDH JAPAN.[1]
In the group, Tsurugi primarily performs as a rapper. He is also known for his signature cowboy hat and his fondness for Western-style fashion.[2]
Biography
Tsurugi practiced karate from an early age, but was inspired by EXILE during elementary school and began dancing. In 2009, as a sixth grader, he enrolled at the Osaka school of EXPG, a dance academy operated by LDH.[3][4][5]
He trained in dance and vocals at EXPG, and in 2015 was selected from among the enrolled students to join the "EXILE GENERATIONS" project.
He was also selected for the advanced "EXPG Lab" class, and in 2017 advanced to the "EXPG Pro" course, designed to train professional dancers.[6]
Personal traits & episodes
As the big brother member of the group, Tsurugi is regarded as a unifying presence who helps lead the team. He plays a key role in choreography and stage production, often described as a "reliable bigbrother."[7]
When it comes to fashion, he prefers American Western styles and often incorporates cowboy hats and Western boots into his wardrobe. He has stated, “When I dress like a cowboy, I feel like myself,” and this distinctive look has become his trademark.[2]
Collaboration with f5ve
Tsurugi has actively collaborated with f5ve, a five-member girl group produced by LDH. Around the time f5ve released their single "Underground" in 2024, he began posting videos using their music on TikTok.
Thanks to this connection, Tsurugi made a special appearance in the music video for f5ve’s 4th digital single “Magic Clock,” released on March 5, 2025, where he played the role of a clerk at a clock shop filled with “magical clocks.”[8]
RUI, a member of f5ve, commented, "It seems like Tsurugi-kun is posting on TikTok even more than we are—it’s like he’s taken on the role of teaching everyone the dance moves for us. He boosted f5ve so much on social media that people even started calling him our sixth member.”
KAEDE also commented, “Our fans got so excited when we announced that Tsurugi-kun would be in the MV.”[9]
