Tarika (Bulgarian: Стадото, romanized: Stadoto), also known as The Herd, is a 2024 drama film co-written and directed by Milko Lazarov.[1] A co-production between Bulgaria, Germany and Luxembourg,[2] the film stars Vesela Valcheva and Zahari Baharov.[3] The film had its world premiere on October 10, 2024, in the Love section of the 68th BFI London Film Festival.[4]
It was selected as the Bulgarian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.[5]
Synopsis
Tarika has begun to develop butterfly wings, a bone disease inherited from her mother. Ali supports his daughter, willing to do everything to protect her from the intolerance of the town where they live.[6]

Release
Tarika had its world premiere on October 10, 2024, at the 68th BFI London Film Festival,[7] then screened on November 13, 2024, at the 38th Kinomania Film Festival.[8]
The film was released commercially on February 21, 2025, in Bulgarian theaters.[9]
