Takumi Nomura (野村 拓海, Nomura Takumi; born 7 August 1997) is a Japanese badminton player hailing from Miyagi Prefecture.[1][2] He is a member of the Japan National Team and is affiliated with Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Engineering, Ltd. team.[3][4]

Career

2024

In 2024, Nomura joined Japan's national B team, partnering with Yuichi Shimogami in men's doubles. In July, they won two International Challenge titles in the Northern Mariana Islands: the Northern Marianas Open and the Saipan International.[5][6] They also reached the semifinals at the Indonesia International in August and the Vietnam Open in September.[7] The year concluded in December at the All Japan Badminton Championships, where Nomura and Shimogami finished as men's doubles runners-up, defeated by Kyohei Yamashita and Hiroki Midorikawa in the final.[8]

2025

In 2025, Nomura and Shimogami were selected for the Japanese national team.[9] They began the season at the Asia Mixed Team Championships in Qingdao, China, contributing to Japan's bronze medal.[10] On the BWF World Tour, they reached the semifinals of two Super 300 tournaments: the German Open in March and the Taipei Open in May.[11][12] They debuted at the Asian Championships in April with a first-round elimination. In June, they competed in their first Super 1000 tournament at the Indonesia Open, where they were eliminated in the second round by eventual champions Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae of South Korea (17–21, 21–11, 19–21). By 10 June 2025, Nomura and Shimogami had achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 32.
