Sweethearts and Wives is a 1951 British television play starring Kay Kendall. The role, along with that in another play, The River, helped Kendall revive her career after the failure of London Town.[1]
Reception
The Evening Standard called it "a rollicking bit of naval nonsense" praising in particular Kendall "whose beauty enriched the occasion."[2] The following month the same paper claimed Kendall was "unknown to viewers" until she appeared in the play "now she has big fan mail, promises of more parts."[3] This led to a role in Lady Godiva Rides Again which reignited her film career.[4]
