Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhey (Urdu: سوہنی دھرتی اللہ رکھے ) is a patriotic Pakistani national song, sung by Shahnaz Begum, produced by Sohail Rana and written by Masroor Anwar.[1][2][3][4]
Reception
The original version of Sohni Dharti, composed by Sohail Rana and sung by Shehnaz Begum, received enormous acclaim and became one of Pakistan's most beloved patriotic songs. Its resonance with the public was such that Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto reportedly described it as Pakistan's "second national anthem", often singing along on stage during performances.[2] The song was widely played at national events, schools, and official ceremonies, and it inspired numerous cover versions over the decades. Its legacy was further bolstered by a celebrated recreation by Coke Studio Pakistan, which received global attention upon release.[5]
