The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018 (French: Code des droits de la personne de la Saskatchewan de 2018) is an act of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan enshrining human rights in provincial law.
Provisions
The code prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity.[1] The act does not provide for protections on the basis of vaccination status.[2]
The code prohibits the distribution of hate literature.[3]
Amendments
The act previously included an exemption that allowed a landlord to discriminate against a prospective renter based on sexual orientation, but this was removed in 2014.[4]
Application
In order to pass the Parents' Bill of Rights, the provincial used a notwithstanding clause to disapply the code to the bill.[5]
