Club career

Born in Maldonado,[3] Rodríguez was part of Peñarol under-20 team which won the 2022 U-20 Copa Libertadores. In the final, he saved two penalties against Independiente del Valle to help his side secure the title.[4] He was also in goal when his team suffered a 1–0 loss in the 2022 Under-20 Intercontinental Cup match against Benfica.[5]

In June 2022, Rodríguez renewed his contract with Peñarol until December 2024.[6] On 18 April 2024, he made his official debut for the club in a 3–1 cup defeat to Montevideo City Torque.[7]

On 31 July 2024, Rodríguez moved to Argentina by joining Vélez Sarsfield.[8] On 8 August 2025, he joined Boston River on a loan deal until the end of the season.[9]

Rogriguez played for Uruguay at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship held in Colombia, and began in January 2023.[10] He was then the first choice goalkeeper of the Uruguayan side that won the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.[11][12]

In June 2023, he received his first call-up to the Uruguayan senior national team by manager Marcelo Bielsa.[13] In January 2024, he was named in Uruguay's squad for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.[14] In May 2024, he was named in the first ever squad of the Uruguay A' national team.[15] He made his Uruguay A' debut on 31 May 2024 in a goalless draw against Costa Rica.[16]
