- In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the twin bells of Urakami Cathedral, that were destroyed, are restored in Nagasaki. - Metropolitan Police carry out the largest mass detainments in London's history, detaining at least 466 people for peacefully protesting the UK's ban on the pro-Palestine activist network Palestine Action. Protesters gathered in Parliament Square to denounce the Israeli invasion of Gaza and the criminalisation of support for Palestine Action, with many holding signs reading "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action" before being forcibly removed by police.
