Pelecium straneoi is a species of beetle of the family Carabidae. This species is found in Brazil (São Paulo).
Description
Adults reach a length of about 10 mm. They have an ovate, flat body. The disc of the head, pronotum and elytra are shiny black.
Etymology
The species is named in honour of Italian coleopterist Stefano Ludovico Straneo (1902–1997), who was an expert in ground beetles (Carabidae) and made great contributions to the taxonomy of the genus Pelecium.[1]
