PWHL Regular season champion is the title given to the winner of PWHL regular season. Currently PWHL does not give out a trophy for this achievement. The most successful teams in the regular season are the Toronto Sceptres and Montreal Victoire winning one each.
Point system and tiebreakers
Since first PWHL season the 3-2-1-0 points system has been used for classification, whereby a team is awarded 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for an overtime or shootout win, and 1 for an overtime or shootout loss.[1]
Tiebreakers
in the event of an end-of-season tie in total accumulated points, the following tie-breakers are used among all teams with the same number of points[2]
- The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage - only applicable during season if teams have played different number of games).
- Greater Number of Regulation Wins
- Greater Number Regulation and Overtime Wins
- Greater Number of Total wins
- The greater number of points earned in games against each other among two or more tied clubs. For the purpose of determining standing for two or more Clubs that have not played an even number of games with one or more of the other tied Clubs, the first game played in the city that has the extra game (the 'odd game') shall not be included. When more than two Clubs are tied, the percentage of available points earned in games among each other (and not including any 'odd games') shall be used to determine standing.
- The greater differential between goals for and against (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season.
- The greater number of goals scored (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the GF column.
