Osteuropa (magazine)
Osteuropa is a specialist magazine that provides interdisciplinary analysis of current developments in the politics and culture of Eastern Europe.
It is published by the German Association for Eastern European Studies.[1]
The magazine was established in Berlin in 1925 by Otto Hoetzsch. It was discontinued in 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded Poland and reestablished in 1951.
From 1951 to 1975, the magazine was edited by Klaus Mehnert, then by Alexander Steininger until 2002, and since then by Manfred Sapper.[2]
Osteuropa is published monthly, as a double issue or as a quarterly issue.[3]
Osteuropa describes itself as an “interdisciplinary monthly magazine analyzing politics, economics, society, culture, and contemporary history in Eastern Europe, East Central Europe, and Southeast Europe.”
In addition to its regular issues in German, the magazine also publishes articles in English, Russian, Ukrainian, and other Eastern European languages.[4]
