Osman Şener Özsoy is a Turkish former taekwondo practitioner who competed internationally for Turkey in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is noted for his medal-winning performances at the European Taekwondo Championships.
Career
Osman Şener Özsoy began competing in national and international taekwondo tournaments in the 1980s, representing Turkey in the middleweight (−76 kg) division. He quickly established himself as one of the country’s leading taekwondo athletes during a period of growing success for Turkish taekwondo on the European stage.[1]
Özsoy first gained international attention at the 1988 European Taekwondo Championships held in Ankara, Turkey, where he won the silver medal in the −76 kg category. This result was significant for Turkey, as the home crowd saw one of their athletes reach the final of a major European event.[1]
In 1990, he followed up with another strong performance at the European Taekwondo Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, where he earned the bronze medal in the same weight class. These achievements contributed to Turkey's reputation as a rising force in European taekwondo during that era.[2]
