The Mongolian National Democratic Party (Mongolian: Монгол Үндэсний Ардчилсан Нам, abbreviated МҮАН or MNDP), known until 2011 as the New National Party (Mongolian: Үндэсний Шинэ Нам, ҮШН), is a political party in Mongolia, that was established in 2006.

History

The party was headed by Mendsaikhany Enkhsaikhan, a former Prime Minister of Mongolia from 7 July 1996 to 23 April 1998. In 2016, he resigned as party leader and succeeded the role to party secretary Bayanjargalyn Tsogtgerel.

The party formed a parliamentary coalition called Justice Coalition with the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party, a party established in 2010.

The coalition won 11 out of 76 seats in the State Great Khural during the 2012 parliamentary elections. The Justice Coalition formed a coalition government with the Democratic Party after the 2012 elections. The gradual break up of the Justice Coalition in May 2016 between the MNDP and MPRP members of parliament led to a majority of the MNDP MPs to join the DP.[2] The MNDP didn't participate in the 2016 elections but instead formally supported the DP.[3][4]

For the 2020 parliamentary elections, the MNDP was apart of a broad political coalition called the New Coalition that included many extra-parliamentary parties such as the Mongolian Republican Party, Citizen's Coalition for Justice Party and Truth and Right Party.[5] The coalition came in 4th, received 5.35% of the total vote but failed to win any seats in the State Great Khural.

In December 2022, the MNDP merged into the DP[6] but this merge was not accepted by the Supreme Court and therefore the party's official registration was not removed[7], while many members of the MNDP joined the DP.
