Miss Universe Maldives (Dhivehi: މިސް ޔުނިވާސް މާލްޑިވްސް) is a national beauty pageant to select the representative of the Maldives for the Miss Universe competition.[1][2][3]

History

Miss Universe Maldives was officially announced on 12 July 2024, on the official Miss Universe instagram account that Ernest Hadrian Bőhm is the national director of Miss Universe Maldives,[4] marking the country’s debut at the Miss Universe 2024 competition. Mariyam Naseem was appointed as the first ever Miss Universe Maldives to represent her country at Miss Universe 2024.[5] But she was pressured hard by the domestic government due to religious issues, so she was unable to participate in the contest. However, On 30 October 2024, the Embassy of Mexico in India's ambassador Diego Pérez, granted a visa to Naseem for her to contest in Miss Universe 2024.[6] She joined Miss Universe through her management company, He n She Maldives, without the backing by the Maldivian government.[7][8]
