Maria da Conceição Brito (born 22 December 1912) is a Portuguese supercentenarian who is currently the oldest living person in Portugal since the death of 112-year-old Inacia Carmelino on 20 August 2023.[1] Her age is validated by LongeviQuest[2] and the European Supercentenarian Organisation.[3]

Biography

Maria da Conceição Brito was born in São Romão (Seia) Faro, Portugal, on 31 December 1912.

She worked as a farmer. At some point in her life, she got married and the couple had at least one son.

Living on her own until she was 99, Da Conceição de Brito was reported to be mentally sharp by staff at her nursing home.[4] At the age of 107, she only used a walker and attended mass monthly. At 108-years-old, she received the COVID-19 vaccine.[5]

On 31 December 2022, she reached the age of 110, becoming a supercentenarian, being the first one in the Faro district.[6][7][8] On 20 August 2023, following the death of Inacia Carmelino, Da Conceição Brito became Portugal’s oldest living resident.[9]

As of 2024, Da Conceição de Brito lives in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, Faro District, Portugal.[10]
