Lovely Professional University (LPU) is a private university located in Phagwara, Punjab, India.[5][6] Established under the Lovely Professional University Act, 2005, it commenced operations in 2006.[7][8]

Governance

The university is founded and governed by Chancellor Ashok Kumar Mittal, while administration and operations are governed by his wife, Rashmi Mittal, as the pro-chancellor of the university.[9][10]

Academics

LPU has schools on various subjects including business, fashion design, engineering, law, education, agriculture, humanities, and tourism.[11]

Affilitations

The Lovely Professional University is affiliated and recognised by national facilitators such as the University Grants Commission (UGC),[12] the Pharmacy Council of India,[13] and the Bar Council of India.[14][15]

LPU's School of Agriculture is accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.[16] It has accreditations and memberships of the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Council of Architecture (CoA),[17] and National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).[18]

LPU is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.[19]

The distance education programmes are approved by the UGC's Distance Education Bureau.[20]

In 2023, NIRF ranked Lovely Professional University 46th overall and 38th among universities.[36] It also ranked 32nd in management, 17th in pharmacy, 50th in engineering, 16th in law and 16th in architecture ranking in India.[37]
