Lorens Chuno Udeigwe also known as Lawrence Udeigwe or UDEiGWE by his stage name but was formerly Lorens Chuno[1] is a Nigerian-American Professor of Mathematics at Manhattan University and a musician.[2][3][4][5]
Education
Udeigwe was born in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. He had his primary school at St. Theresa’s Primary School in Wurukum Makurdi and Secondary at Mt St Gabriel’s Secondary School Makurdi.[6][7][8][9] He has double Bachelor's degrees, in Mathematics and Computer Science from Duquesne University.[10][11]He earned his master’s degree in mathematics from University of Pittsburgh.[12]
Career
Udeigwe is a Research Affiliate, Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). [13][14][15]He is also the founder of LCM Cube, an indie label, and hosts "Doing Jazz," a Podcast where he chats about music and life.[16][17]
His first album, “Highlife, Soul, & Ecstasy” in December 2007 was among the top five hits on Rhythm 93.7 FM Lagos and Raypower FM.[18]
Udeigwe has worked with Skales. His song 'Do' attracted over 2 million Plays on Social media recording close to 500,000 streams online, and was on top 10 chart on Raypower Fm Lagos, Eko FM Lagos, Fresh Fm Ibadan, Beat Fm and Wazobia FM. The visuals to the song 'Do' was premiered on MtvBase, Soundcity TV and HipTV.[1]
In 2009, Udeigwe was appointed as a lecturer at Penn State Fayette.[12] He was awarded a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Visiting Associate Professorship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2020, Udeigwe was awarded a National Science Foundation Research Grant, and in 2021, he was awarded a Department of Defense research grant from the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM).[19][20]
He was listed among Nigerian EPs that received the most Streams and trended in Audiomack in 2018 to 2022.[21]
In 2023, He was awarded Yessiey Awards [22] [23] and Apple Music named Udeigwe as one of Nigeria's rising artists to watch.[4]

He became a Fellow of the Advance HE, formerly known as the Higher Education Academy, in 2021.[18] He is also a Fellow and Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM), Los Angeles, CA. He is a member of Sigma Xi, Organization for Computational Neuroscience, Mathematical Association of America a Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.[36][2]
