Launtel is an Tasmanian-based telecommunications company that mainly provides residential/business broadband packages.
History
Launtel was founded in 2007, by Damian Ivereigh, in Launceston.[1]
In 2017, Launtel became the first RSP to provide retail services for gigabit internet in Australia[2] Also in 2017, Launtel became the first RSP to provide retail services for gigabit internet in Tasmania's capital city, Hobart.[3]
In 2022 and 2023, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission ranked Launtel as the fastest retail service provider (RSP) of internet in Australia.[4][5]
In 2023, Launtel lobbied the National Broadband Network (NBN) to provide their highest speed services at a lower cost to RSPs.[6]
The CEO of Launtel, Damien Ivereigh, was elected President of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce in 2024.[7]
Launtel is unusual among Australian RSPs as it uses a daily billing system as opposed to a monthly one.[8]
