La Velada del Año 5

The fifth edition was held on July 26, 2025, at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, Spain. Ibai Llanos confirmed via his X account that this edition would feature seven 1-on-1 matches, thus returning to the old format. The Evening of the Year kicked off at 8:00 PM (UTC +2:00) due to the high temperatures in Seville.^[1]

This edition also features sponsors ALSA, Spotify, Revolut, VICIO, Coca-Cola, InfoJobs, Grefusa, Nothing, Cerave, Mahou, and Maxibon.^[2]

This fifth edition once again broke the world record for viewers on Twitch. The broadcast reached 10.8 million simultaneous viewers.^[3] In person, there were more than 80,000 attendees.^[4]

Within the professional wrestling world, opinions about the event are mixed. Some wrestlers are against it and point out the lack of support for professional wrestling, including Lara Fernández: "Let's see if you can stop with all the Ibai's Night of the Year and come, pay to see us, and support the real athletes, not just people acting like clowns."^[6]

Many others see La Velada as a good initiative for boxing, including Jon Fernández: "It's sad that instead of seeing the opportunity we boxers have, the people who practice sports, to be able to be there, to be able to experience this with our sport. In the end, it's a huge publicity for boxing."^[7] Within the La Velada organization there are professional boxers like Sandor Martín.^[8] He declared before the third edition: "In Spain, I never imagined seeing 60,000 people watching boxing." He also added that "for now, we're getting people talking about boxing, which is positive." However, he clarified that "we can't expect the Evening of the Year to solve the endemic problems of Spanish boxing."^[9]
