Kubilay Ençü (born 10 January 2001) is a Turkish sprinter and hurdler specializing in the 400 metres and 400 metres hurdles. He was a member of Turkey's gold medal-winning 4 × 400 m relay team at the 2021 Summer World University Games in Chengdu.

Career

Ençü made his international debut in 2018, winning silver in the 400 metres (48.82) at the Balkan U18 Indoor Championships in Istanbul. That summer, he competed at the 2018 European Athletics U18 Championships in Győr, winning silver in the Swedish relay and competing in the 400 metres hurdles.[1]

In 2019, Ençü was runner-up in the 4 × 400 m relay at the Balkan Indoor Championships and won bronze in the 400 metres at the Balkan U20 Championships in Cluj-Napoca. He claimed gold in the 4 × 400 m relay at the 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships in Borås.[2]

In 2020, he won relay gold and individual 400 m gold at the Balkan U20 Indoor and Outdoor Championships. In 2021, he competed at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń, running 48.02 in the heats, and raced in the World Athletics Relays in Chorzów. He finished fourth with the Turkish relay at the 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships in Tallinn.

In 2022, Ençü won silver in the 4 × 400 m relay at the Balkan Championships in Craiova. He also participated in the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich with the relay team.

In 2023, he set a new Turkish national record (3:09.41) in the 4 × 400 m relay at the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, finishing sixth. At the 2023 European Athletics U23 Championships in Espoo, he reached the heats in the 400 metres and won silver in the relay (3:03.04). Later that year, he reached the 400 m semifinals at the 2021 Summer World University Games in Chengdu, and won gold in the 4 × 400 m relay (3:03.46).[3]
