Justin Matthew Paperny (born January 22, 1975) is an American prison consultant and former stockbroker who served 18 months in federal prison for securities fraud.[1] He operates White Collar Advice, a consulting firm for individuals facing white-collar criminal charges.[2]
Early life
Paperny was born in Tarzana, California, and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1997 with a degree in psychology.[1][3]
Career as a stockbroker
Paperny started his finance career in 1997 as a junior associate at Merrill Lynch. He later worked at Crowell, Weedon & Co., and eventually at Bear Stearns and UBS Financial Services in Century City, Los Angeles. At UBS, he became an account vice president and built a lucrative client base managing portfolios for athletes and hedge fund managers.[1]
Criminal conviction
In 2007, Paperny pleaded guilty to conspiracy and securities fraud related to a hedge fund scheme. He was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $510,378 in restitution. He served his sentence from 2008 to 2009.[1][4]
After his release, Paperny founded White Collar Advice, a consulting firm that advises individuals facing white-collar criminal charges.[1]
