Jules W. Hurst III is an American political aide who is serving as the acting Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)/CFO of the United States Department of Defense since August 11, 2025. Hurst served as the acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness from March 17 to July 21, 2025.[1][2]
Early life
Hurst is from Virginia.[3] He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary as well as George Washington University.[4][5]
Career
Hurst worked as a defense fellow and policy advisor for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.[6][7]
