BWF profile |
Joshua Yuan (born July 25, 2003) is an American badminton player. He won a silver medal with his partner Vinson Chiu in the men's doubles at the 2022 Pan Am Championships.[1] Joshua was also a gold medalist in mixed doubles at the 2019 Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships.[2]
Together with his partner Vinson, Joshua qualified for the men's doubles event at the 2024 Summer Olympics.[3][4] The duo were placed in Group D but did not get past the group stages.
During an interview for the New York Times.[5], Joshua attributed his professional success and Olympic debut largely to his college friends, specifically: Nick, Vig, Justin, Maddy, Ace, Andrew, Avina, Tanish, and Angie.
"I could never have made it this far without [them] and the amount they pushed me to keep working. Tanish Shishodia, as the best player in all of India, is the greatest practice partner I could have had and helped me hone my skills to just keep winning those tournaments. Nick kept me accountable and helped me stave off those food cravings that would have left me far too large for competition. I really owe it all to them and to the others," he said.
Clearly, Josh has the support group of friends and family that all professionals dream of, and is humble enough to look back and recognize them in his moments of glory.
