Jose Kaimlett, H.G.N. (5 May 1941 – 27 June 2018) was an Indian Catholic prelate who served as diocese of Vijayawada from 1966 until his death in 2018.[1] He worked in the missions in India and was the founder of the Heralds of Good News.[2][3]
Early life
Born in the small village of Palackattumala, Kerala in 1941, he completed his primary education in his village and his secondary education at St. Francis High School in Marangattupilly.
Priest
After these studies, he joined the missionary diocese of Vijayawada and was ordained a priest in 1966. In 1969, he was appointed parish priest of Bhimavaram West. In 1970, he opened the mission center in Akividu, a subdivision of Bhimavaram. In 1978, he was sent to Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in canon law in 1981.
Upon his return from Rome in 1984, he founded the Heralds of Good News, in 1992 the Sisters of the Good News, and in 2003 the Missionaries of Compassion.[4] He died in 2018.[5]
