History and background

Established in 2022, Jamalpur Textile Institute is a technical education institution focused on training individuals for Bangladesh's textile industry. On February 14, 2022, the then Prime Minister inaugurated six textile institutes nationwide, including this one.[4] The event was part of broader efforts to expand technical education in the country.

On January 23, 2025, the institute's name was changed from Sheikh Russell Textile Institute to Jamalpur Textile Institute.[5][6]

Key facilities include an academic and administrative building, library, workshop, and a four-storey practical laboratory. Separate hostel accommodations for male and female students, a playground, a Shahid Minar (martyrs' memorial), a mosque, and other infrastructure further enhance the campus's functionality.[7]

Academic programs

Under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, the institute offers a four-year Diploma in Textile Engineering across four specializations. Each course spans four years, with each academic year divided into two levels, and each level further split into two semesters, totaling eight semesters . A fixed number of theoretical and practical courses are included in every semester.[8]
