Hispanic Health Council
The Hispanic Health Council (HHC) is a community-based organization founded in 1978 to support the Puerto Rican population in Connecticut. The organization conducts research, provides services, offers training programs, and engages in advocacy. Its work focuses on addressing health and social issues affecting Latino and low-income urban communities through a broad and integrated approach. Its main goals are to help improve the mental wellbeing of people.
History
Headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut, the Hispanic Health Council has used its research findings to inform prevention, intervention, and community education programs since its founding in 1978. The organization tries to provide services to the Hispanic community in Connecticut, with emphasis on maternal and child care, family nutrition, risk reduction, youth development, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS.
In 2023, HHC opened a Family Wellness and Cultural Center in Hartford, CT, to help assist local families with various support services.[1][2]
