About

The Hazara Students Federation (HSF), (Urdu: هزاره اسٹوڈنٹ فیڈریشن) is an organization in Pakistan for students from Hazara People.[2][3] It was founded in 1970.

History

In 1970 Hazara students enrolled in Government Science College, Quetta formed an organization called Hazara Students Organization (HSO) whose first President was Mr. Shabbir Hussain (the younger brother of Late Professor Nazir Hussain). In November 1972, its name was changed from Hazara Students Organization to Hazara Students Federation (HSF) by the majority opinion of the members. In 1973 Mr. Abdul Ali Asghari Hazara was elected the President of Hazara Federation.

Mission

At the time when the Hazara people in Pakistan was facing socio-political, economic and educational challenges, HSF emerged as a platform to empower Hazara Students, encouraging them to focus on education and political awareness. Through organized efforts, the federation aimed to create a politically conscious and educated youth base that could advocate for the rights and needs of the people.

Achievements

Beyond its political objectives, the Hazara Students Federation also extended its focus to other essential areas like education, sports, and culture. Recognizing the importance of education in uplifting youth, HSF sought to provide students with academic resources, guidance, and support to ensure their success in various fields. The federation has played a pivotal role in representing Hazara people, advocating for their rights in creating equal opportunities. In the realm of sports and culture, HSF has strived to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Hazara people at different platforms, while also encouraging youth participation in athletic activities. By organizing career counselling, awareness seminars, cultural festivals, sports events, stage performances, musical concerts, and other community activities the federation not only enhances the social unity of the Hazara youth but also promotes their identity and strengthens their sense of pride in their heritage.

Over the half century, the Hazara Students Federation has continued to play a significant role in representing Hazara Students, fostering leadership qualities, and addressing issues of importance to Hazara people. Through commitment to political, educational, and cultural engagement, the HSF has helped shape generations of Hazaras who are more aware of their rights and responsibilities as active citizens.
