Harry William Petrie (born 6 September 2002) is an English former cricketer.
Career
Petrie was born in High Wycombe in September 2002. He was educated at Wellington College in Berkshire.[1] A right-arm fast-medium bowler, Petrie made his way up though age-group cricket for Hampshire,[1] and in September 2021 he was selected in the England Under-19 team for their series against West Indies Under-19s,[2] where he made a single Youth One Day International appearance at Beckenham.[3] The following month, he was handed a rookie contract by Hampshire, alongside Toby Albert and John Turner.[4] Petrie made his only senior appearance for Hampshire in 2022, in a first-class match against a Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI at the Rose Bowl;[5] he took four wickets across the match.[6] Petrie was released by Hampshire at the end of the 2023 season, alongside Jack Campbell.[7]
Having previously played national counties cricket for Dorset in the 2021 NCCA Knockout Trophy,[8] Petrie was included in Wiltshire's squad for their 2024 National Counties Championship match against Shropshire,[9] playing in both that match and in a subsequent fixture against Wales National Counties.[10] Petrie subsequently studied at Loughborough University, where he played for Loughborough UCCE in pre-season friendly matches against first-class counties in both 2024 and 2025.[11][12] Whilst studying at Loughborough, he played for Kibworth in the Leicestershire Premier Cricket League.[12]
