Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib or Shaheedan Sahib, alternatively spelt as Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji, is a gurdwara on Shaheeda Sahib Road in Amritsar, Punjab, India. This gurdwara was built by Akali Phula Singh. Baba Deep Singh, the first head of Damdami Taksal, was martyred at this place.[1][2]

Significance

Gurudwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib is the place where Baba Deep Singh, the first head of Damdami Taksal, was martyred on 11 November 1757 while fighting against the Afghans in the Battle of Amritsar‌ and Their severed head fell at this place.[3] Baba Deep Singh fought this battle to liberate the Golden Temple. The gurdwara stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to Sikh principles and the sanctity of the holy shrine.

Construction of the Gurdwara

The gurdwara was initially a memorial platform built by Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia and later transformed into a grand gurdwara by Akali Phula Singh. The present complex was developed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in the early 1920s.
