Frank Adlington-Stringer is a British Green Party politician who has been a councillor on North East Derbyshire District Council since 2023. He is running in the 2025 Green Party deputy leadership election.
Early life
Adlington-Stringer was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and raised in Derby. He became a self-employed designer. He was a member of the Labour Party until 2018; he has stated that he felt "uninspired and let down" by the party.[1]
Political career
In 2021, Adlington-Stringer advocated against the building of a solar farm in Derbyshire, stating that "we shouldn't be exchanging green energy for green spaces."[2] He was elected in the 2023 North East Derbyshire District Council election, becoming the first Green Party councillor to hold a seat on that council.[1]
Adlington-Stringer ran in the 2024 East Midlands mayoral election, and was its youngest candidate. He campaigned on policies such as bringing buses back under public control with free public transport for the elderly and under-18s, rejecting other candidates' plans for on-demand buses. He also campaigned on developing a "regional festival" for the area, creating citizens' assemblies, and planning for a "green industrial revolution" by offering grants to businesses to help them to move toward net-zero emissions. He stated a "commitment to end homelessness" in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire through the use of empty properties and support for mental health services.[1] He came third in this election to Conservative candidate Ben Bradley and Labour candidate Claire Ward, receiving 50,666 votes.[3]
Stringer announced that he would be running in the 2025 Green Party of England and Wales deputy leadership election on 30 June.[4]
