The football tournament at the 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles and other cities of the United States from 12 July to 29 August 2028.[1]

Two different tournaments will be held in this sport: men's and women's.

United States is the women's defending champions. Spain is the men's defending champions.

Venues

The Rose Bowl, which will host the knockout stage matches, is the only stadium which has been confirmed. The other stadiums of the tournament are yet to be decided.

Qualification

In April 2025, the IOC Executive Board approved a recommendation for 12 men's teams and 16 women's teams.[2] The FIFA Council has not yet approved the final allocation of places for the Olympic football tournaments; however, CONMEBOL had previously published its own qualification system for its conferderation's women's football qualification.[3]
