Fathma Hazrat Omar Sarangani (born June 12, 2000) is a Filipino female politician who currently serves as the mayor of Madalum in Lanao del Sur.[2] She became mayor after winning the 2025 local elections in the municipality of Madalum, thus replacing his father Usman "Palao" Sarangani who was the previous mayor.
Early life
She was born on June 12, 2000 in Iligan, Lanao del Norte, with the name Fathma Hazrat Macarimbang Mindalano-Omar Sarangani. She is the daughter of the former mayor of Madalum, Usman "Palao" Tantao Mindalano-Sarangani Jr., while her mother is Alma Macarimbang Omar-Sarangani, daughter of former mayor of Madalum, Abolais "Raquib" Omar and Zaalica Macarimbang Omar.[3]
Fathma is also the granddaughter of the former mayor of Madalum, her grandfather is Sultan Usman Tantao Sarangani Sr., the Sultan of Uyaan and reigning Paramount Sultan of Mindanao and her grandmother Soraida Mindalano-Sarangani.[3]
Personal life
Fathma is married to senior councilor of Sapad in Lanao del Norte, Datu Sahab Dimaporo Asis, son of the former major of Sapad, Farouk Asis Sapad and Sindao Dimaporo Asis, who is the daughter of the late Sultan Naga Dimaporo. Therefore, she is also a member of the Dimaporo political family, which is quite well-known in Mindanao.[3]
Education
She was one of the Second Semester Latin Awardees, Academic Year 2024–25, earning a undergraduate degree Bachelor of Science in Biology (BS Biology) from Mindanao State University Main Campus in Marawi.[4]
Political career

Fathma was elected mayor of Madalum, a third-class municipality in Lanao del Sur, after being titled on June 30, 2025. Following the 2025 elections, the municipality had 12,837 registered voters. She received 8,927 votes (69.54%), beating six other candidates. In this election, she was nominated by the local political party Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo (SIAP).[5]
During her leadership, a 1.44 km Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) was built connecting barangay of Cadayunan to barangay of Bubong. She attended the inauguration ceremony with the ribbon cutting together with the North Mindanao Regional Director of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Zoraida O. Macadindang on July 7, 2025.[6]
