Dian Rana is an Indonesian digital content creator who produces video documentation of the development of Nusantara, Indonesia’s planned capital city in East Kalimantan. He began publishing construction-related videos on his YouTube channel during the early phases of the project.[1]

Early life and background

Dian Rana was born in Bandung, West Java. He previously worked in Balikpapan and later moved to Wonosari village in Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, an area that would later become part of the Nusantara capital core zone.[2]

Career

Dian began creating content in 2021, documenting local development projects, including the early construction of Nusantara. His breakthrough came in January 2022 when he accidentally arrived at the site that would later become the IKN Zero Point Monument.[2]

He has consistently documented various milestones, including:

In October 2023, he resigned from his office job to become a full-time content creator.[1]

As of June 2025, his YouTube channel has over 329,000 subscribers and more than 72 million views.[2]

In August 2025, Dian conducted an exclusive interview with Bambang Susantono, former Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority. The discussion focused on the vision of Nusantara as a people-centered city and addressed issues such as public participation, basic services, and inclusivity in the capital’s development.[4]Liputan 6 reported on the significance of this milestone, highlighting Dian’s evolving role from content creator to a civic communicator representing local voice. [4]

In February 2024, he was part of the Indonesian delegation to the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) held in Bangkok, Thailand, organized by the United Nations ESCAP.[2]

In October 2024, he participated in a national event held in Nusantara and was mentioned by Tempo (Indonesian magazine) as a resident who had followed the capital’s transformation from its early stages.[6] In April 2025, Dian Rana appeared on a Metro TV (Indonesian TV network) segment discussing the Nusantara Capital City as a tourist destination during the Eid holiday period.[7] In August 2024, he was featured in a Tribun News sharing his experience documenting the development of the Nusantara site from forest to the construction of the State Palace.[8]
