Dear X (Korean: 친애하는 X) is an upcoming South Korean melo-thriller television series written by Choi Ja-won, co-directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun, and starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon and Lee Yul-eum. Based on Naver Webtoon of the same title by Vanziun, it depicts the downfall of top actress Baek Ah-jin and her two faces hidden behind it. The drama is scheduled to premiere on TVING in November 2025.

Plot

Baek Ah-jin is an actress who prioritizes her beauty and popularity to rise her career by manipulating other people. She harbors a lot of grudges behind her somewhat good-natured demeanor.[1]

Production

Dear X was co-directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun and written by Choi Ja-won, who won the grand prize at the 2018 KBS One-Act Drama Script Contest.[4] It is based on a popular Naver Webtoon of the same title by Vanziun. It was planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Monster Union and Siwoo Company, and provided by TVING.[5]

On June 4, 2024, it was reported that Kim Yoo-jung had been offered a role in the series and was considering it.[6] The next day, Kim Young-dae is considering to appear.[7] While Osen exclusively reported that two of them were teaming up to appear.[8] On June 25, according to SPOTV News interview, Kim Do-hoon was in negotiations after receiving an offer for the series.[9] The next day, Hwang In-youp received an offer and was confirmed for a special appearance.[3]

TVING revealed the cast line up on August 8, 2024, including Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon and Lee Yul-eum.[2]

Release

Dear X is scheduled to premiere on TVING in November 2025.[10]

The 2 episodes of the series will premiere at the 30th Busan International Film Festival in the 'On Screen' section in September 2025.[11]
