Dear Students is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-Tamil language bilingual action comedy film written and directed by George Philip Roy and Sandeep Kumar. The film stars Nayanthara and Nivin Pauly in the lead roles. It is produced by Vineet Jain under Maverik Movies and Nivin Pauly under his banner Pauly Jr. Pictures and co-produced by Arun Kumar T. V. and Manoj Ratnakaran. The film is presented by Rowdy Pictures, the production company co-founded by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan.[1] Anend C. Chandran and Shinoz Shamsudheen handles the cinematography and Lal Krishna edits the film. Justin Varghese and Sibi Mathew Alex handles the music department.[2][3]

Development

In November 2022, there were media reports that Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara would collaborate again after Love Action Drama.[4] The project was formally announced in April 2024 by Pauly Jr. Pictures and Rowdy Pictures.[5][6] George Philip Roy and Sreejith N. were confirmed as co-directors, marking one of their early collaborations in mainstream Malayalam cinema.[6]

Casting

Nayanthara's involvement was revealed on 14 April 2024 through social media posts by Pauly and the production team.[5][7] The announcement was covered widely by Indian media outlets, highlighting the reunion of the lead actors.[8]

Filming

Principal photography began in April 2024 with a ceremonial pooja attended by the cast and crew.[9][10] Filming took place across various locations in Kerala, with portions reportedly shot in college campuses and public streets to match the story's campus-action setting.[11] The shoot was completed by 23 March 2025,[12][13] followed by a wrap-up celebration attended by the crew.[14]

Marketing

On 3 January 2025, the first look poster featuring the lead actors was released online, generating anticipation among fans.[15][16] On 15 August 2025, the teaser was unveiled, showing Nayanthara in the role of a police officer confronting Pauly's character, with elements of comedy and action.[17][18][19][20][21]

Release

Dear Students is slated for a theatrical release in 2025.[22][23]
