Costantino Ciervo

Costantino Ciervo (* 1961 in Naples) is an Italian artist, living in Germany.
Life
Costantino Ciervo grew up in Naples. From 1980 to 1982, he studied economics and politics at the University of Economics and Commerce in Naples. After dropping out of college, he began working as a freelance artist. In 1983, he taught screen printing and photomechanics at the juvenile detention center on the island of Nisida in the Gulf of Naples. In 1984, he moved to Berlin and began studying philosophy and art history at Technische Universität Berlin in 1988. In 1993, he participated in the Venice Biennale. Costantino Ciervo is a member of the German Artists' Association. [1] He lives and works in Berlin.
Artwork
Costantino Ciervo is a media artist. In his video installations, Ciervo explores the existence of the human being in today's society, the current economic systems and the rapid regional and global developments and possible liberation strategies. He deals with current topics such as the upheavals in the field of science, technological and genetic research, computer science and communication technology, ethics, complexity and artificial intelligence.
In 2016, he launched his participatory long-term art project ‘SendProtest!’ with a mobile app and internet archive. Some of his installations and video sculptures as well as the ‘SendProtest’ archive are on permanent display at the Museum FLUXUS+ in Potsdam (Germany).
