Congrats (March 13, 2000 - July 28, 2025) was an American thoroughbred racehorse.[1]

Racing career

Congrats debuted and won his maiden race at the Saratoga Race Course on July 27, 2002.[4]

Congrats won his first graded race when he won the San Pasqual Handicap in 2005.[5] He was later sent to the 2005 Dubai World Cup, where he finished 5th behind Roses In May.[6]

Stud Record

After retiring from racing, he was sent to the Cloverleaf Farms in Florida to stand stud in 2007. The following year, the horse was sent to Vinery Stud and later to WinStar Farm in 2013. Congrats' most successful progeny is Turbulent Descent, who won multiple graded races including the Santa Anita Oaks.[7]

In addition, Congrats is a successful damsire; having sired the dams of both Caravel (Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint) and Shedaresthedevil (Kentucky Oaks).[8][9] He is also a successful damsire in Japan, having sired the dams of both Danon Decile (Tōkyō Yūshun) and Forever Young (Tokyo Daishōten, Saudi Cup).[10][11]

He retired from stud duty in 2021 and was pensioned at WinStar Farm.[17] On July 28, 2025, Congrats passed away due to natural causes at the age of 25.[10][18][19]
