Clough Hall is a suburb[1] of Kidsgrove in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England.[2] The suburb forms a residential area of the town.[3]

History

The earliest trace of any buildings near Clough Hall dates back to the 1440s.[4] The area became popular due to Clough Hall being often dubbed the "Paradise of the Potteries" with an amusements and leisure activities.[5] These continued until Clough Hall was demolished in the 1920s.[6]

After the coming of the North Staffordshire Railway's multiple railway lines. Clough Hall saw rapid growth as a suburban area for the nearby collieries, coal mines and pottery factories.[7]

Since closure of most of the industries and railway lines in the area, Clough Hall continues to be a residential area for the town.

Amenities

The area is home to a pub named after the former "Clough Hall".[8] Additionally, Kidsgrove Athletic F.C. and Kidsgrove Cricket Club are located in the area too.

Transport

There are regular bus services through the area which connect it to Kidsgrove, Biddulph, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent and Meir.[9]
