Chrysoprasis hypocrita is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae (longhorn beetles).[1] It was first described by the German entomologist Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson in 1847.[2]

Description

Chrysoprasis hypocrita belongs to the subfamily Cerambycinae, which consists of brightly colored and often metallic beetles. Like other members of the genus Chrysoprasis, it is known for its striking coloration and elongated body. However, specific morphological details about this species remain largely undocumented in scientific literature.[3]

Distribution

This species is native to parts of South America, particularly in tropical and subtropical forests. The exact distribution remains unclear, but it has been recorded in regions where other Chrysoprasis species thrive, including Brazil, Peru, and surrounding areas.[4]

Ecology and behavior

As with many Cerambycidae species, Chrysoprasis hypocrita is likely a wood-boring beetle in its larval stage, feeding on decaying or live wood. Adult beetles are diurnal and may be attracted to light or floral sources for nectar. However, specific ecological behaviors of this species have not been extensively studied.[5]
