Century Dam
Century Dam is a dam located in Malibu Creek State Park in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California.

History
In 1903, wealthy Angelenos belonging to Crags Country Club[1] created the 50-foot-tall dam in order to make a seven-acre hunting and fishing lake, Century Lake, for their country club.[2][1] The club went bankrupt in 1936,[1] and in 1946, 20th Century Fox bought the lake and a big swath of the surrounding land to film movies.[2] In 1968, Planet of the Apes used the lake for filming.[1][3]
