Camila Bernal is a bilingual correspondent for NBC News in Los Angeles. She was previously a bilingual correspondent for CNN.[1]
Early life and education
Bernal was born in the U.S. and holds American citizenship and nationality by birth. She is of Spanish ethnicity and heritage. After graduating from high school, she went to college at Florida International University. During her time there, she worked as a reporter at the New York Times Student Journalism Institute, and from that day forward, she began her career as a journalist, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication.
Career
She began her career working at Telemundo where she was an elections producer and associate producer from 2012 to 2013. She also served in other stations, including CBS Austin, where she was an assignment editor and weekend producer. Additionally, she wrote web stories every day as a fill-in anchor during her time at CBS, working at their sister stations. From 2014 through 2015, Bernal served as a multimedia journalist and a weekend anchor at KMID in Odessa, Texas. Furthermore, she also worked at WTVJ NBC 6 in South Florida, where she was a producer for Digital Connections.
In 2018, Bernal joined CNN, working at CNN Newsource in Los Angeles, California and Washington D.C., where she became the first person to deliver English and Spanish language reports and digital content for CNN Newsource's 1,000 local news affiliates.[2] She covered the George Floyd protests after his death and later led CNN Newsource's coverage of the Trial of Derek Chauvin from start to finish. However, during her time in CNN's Washington D.C. bureau, she excelled by leading CNN's coverage of the Second impeachment of Donald Trump, the 2020 election, the Death and state funeral of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, confirmation hearings of various Supreme Court Justices, among other political stories.
Bernal left CNN in 2024 and joined NBC News in 2025 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent reporting across all NBC News platforms, which also marked her return to NBCUniversal, having worked at WTVJ and Telemundo in Miami.[3]

Bernal is married to her husband, Eric.
