Avadhut Anil Tatkare (born 3 December 1978) is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He served as the Member of Legislative Assembly for Shrivardhan from 2014 to 2019. Before entering state-level politics, he was elected President of the Roha-Ashtami Municipal Council for two terms between 2008 and 2015. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2022, he has previously been associated with the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party. He hails from the influencial Tatkare family of Raigad. [1]
Early life and education
Tatkare was born on 3 December 1978 in Mumbai to Anil and Shubhada Tatkare, and was raised in Roha, Raigad. He belongs to the prominent Tatkare political family. His father, Anil Tatkare, served two consecutive terms (2010–2012, 2012–2018) as a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, representing the Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg Local Authorities. [2] His uncle, Sunil Tatkare, is a senior politician who has held cabinet positions in the Maharashtra government and is currently the Member of Parliament for Raigad. [3] He completed his high school education at J. M. Rathi English School & Junior College.
Political career
Tatkare began his political career with the Nationalist Congress Party, serving as a member of the Roha-Ashtami Municipal Council from 2006 to 2016. During this period, he was elected as Deputy President (2006–2008) and then served two consecutive terms as President (2008–2011, 2011-2015).
In the 2014 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Tatkare was elected as the MLA for Shrivardhan constituency, representing the NCP. [4] He later joined Shiv Sena in 2019 and was associated with the party until 2022. [5] In 2022, he formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. [6]
Personal life
Avadhut Tatkare is married to Revati Tatkare since 2003. The couple has two sons, Aadirya and Shaurya. Outside of politics, he is a businessman.
