Almir Badnjević (born 13 July 1986), is a Bosnian scientist and academic. He is currently serving as the director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Records, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA).[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Almir Badnjević was born on 13 July 1986[4] in Bosanska Krupa, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo,[5] and received his Ph.D. in 2015 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb.[6]
Career
Badnjević has worked in both academia and industry since 2008. His main focus is on integrating medical devices with measurement functions into legal metrology. He is also involved in improving in traceability in medical measurements. He co-authored and edited "Inspection of Medical Devices – for Regulatory Purposes,[7]" first published in 2017, with a second edition[8] published in 2023. In 2022, he established the Verlab Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Medical Devices, and Artificial Intelligence.[9]
Badnjević was appointed director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange (IDDEEA)[1] by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the term 2023 to 2028.[10]
Academic contributions
Since 2015, Badnjević has served as an assistant professor and the head of the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, International Burch University, in Sarajevo.[11] In the same year, he established the Master's and Doctoral programs in Bioengineering in Sarajevo.
Since 2015, he has served as a visiting lecturer at the University of Warwick[12] in the United Kingdom.
In 2018, he was appointed associate professor in General Electronics at International Burch University, and in Health Informatics at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. [13]
In 2019, he was appointed associate professor in Pharmaceutical Informatics at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo.
In 2022, he was appointed full professor at the Faculty of Information Systems and Technology, University of Donja Gorica,Montenegro. [14] Badnjević also became a senior research associate in Engineering and Technology at the Verlab Institute.[9] His academic portfolio comprises over 200 scientific publications.
