Aina Asif (born 27 September 2008) is a Pakistani actress and model.[1][2] She played in various television dramas such as Hum Tum (2022) Mayi Ri (2023), Pinjra (2022), and Judwaa (2025).[3][4][5]
Early life and education
Aina Asif was born on 27 September 2008 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.[6] Her father belongs to the Kutchi Memon community, while her mother is Punjabi.[7][8] She received her early education in international schools in Karachi.[9][3]
Career
Asif started her career as a child model in 2019; she made her acting debut in 2021, portraying the younger version of Maya Ali's character in Pehli Si Muhabbat.[3][8]
In 2022, she played Maliha "Mili" Sultan in Hum Tum and Abeer in Pinjra.[10] Her breakthrough role came in 2023 with Mayi Ri, where she portrayed Qurrat-ul-Ain "Annie" Habib, a child bride.[11] She also appeared in Baby Baji and Jannat Se Aagay the same year.[12][13]
In 2025, she took on dual roles as twin sisters Sara and Zara in Judwaa and starred in Fahad Mustafa's Parwarish, as Maya, along with Samar Jafri.[14][15][16] Regarding her roles in dramas like Woh Ziddi Si and Baby Baji,[17] viewers expressed discomfort with her styling and mature portrayals, suggesting it did not suit her young age.[18][19]
Her performance in Mayi Ri, a drama addressing child marriage, also sparked debate: while some criticized the depiction, Asif clarified in interviews that the intent was to raise awareness about the issue.[20] Some viewers have called for more age-appropriate roles, reflecting broader concerns about child actors and responsible casting in Pakistani television.[21][22]
